The Most Difficult Task We Had Was Not Being Able To Finish…

English:
Stephen Hetman is a Lieutenant at the Highland Falls, New York National Guard who was sent to Camp Santiago in Salinas Puerto Rico as part of the 827th Engineering Company response package between October 19 to November 16.

The National Guard drove to various towns in Puerto Rico. Each town and city had a different list of concerns. However, the most common concerns were cleaning up destroyed roads that were preventing families from having access to the cities, fixing the infrastructure, and clearing debris needed to rebuild.

As Hetman traveled around the island, he helped to rescue dogs that were found wandering and assisted families that needed to connect to the main roads. He spoke highly of the spirit of those in Puerto Rico.
