Today marks the 6-month anniversary of Hurricane Maria’s devastating assault on the island of Puerto Rico. PaceDocs traveled throughout the island, interviewing over 60 people and filming in over 11 locations. By the end of the location shoot, we had a better understanding of what Puerto Rico has to face. Here is a review of the Vlogs that we filmed every day.
We visited an all-girls orphanage devastated in Arecibo.; we had the privilege of witnessing Con Edison and the Northeast team restore power to Andrès C. González Community School, we had in-depth interviews with representatives of aid organizations such as F.E.M.A., Habitat for Humanity,the Hispanic Federation, and local YMCA’s. And we spoke to people, resilient Puerto Rican people who are still dealing with Maria’s aftermath.
Returning home, we now have our work cut out for us. Over the next six weeks, we’ll be in post-production. Our focus will be shaping our story on Hurricane Maria, the island, and its people. The documentary will premiere Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York, and Monday, May 7th, 2018 at the Schimmel Center in New York City.
Hoy es el aniversario de seis meses del devastador asalto del huracán María en la isla de Puerto Rico. PaceDocs viajó por toda la isla, entrevistando a más de 60 personasy filmando en más de 11 lugares. Al final de la sesión de ubicación, comprendimos mejor lo que Puerto Rico tiene que enfrentar. Visitamos un orfanato para niñas completamente devastado en Arecibo; tuvimos el privilegio de presenciar cómo Con Edison y el equipo de Northeast restablecieron el poder de la escuela comunitaria Andrés C. González, tuvimos entrevistas en profundidad con representantes de organizaciones de ayuda como F.E.M.A. , Hábitat para la Humanidad,la Federación Hispana ,y los YMCA locales. Y hablamos con personas puertorriqueñas resilientes que todavía están lidiando con las consecuencias de María.
Volviendo a casa, ahora tenemos nuestro trabajo recortado para nosotros. Durante las próximas seis semanas estaremos en post-producción. Nuestro enfoque será dar forma a nuestra historia sobre el huracán María, la isla y su gente. El documental se estrenará el martes 1 de mayo de 2018 en el Jacob Burns Film Center en Pleasantville, Nueva York, y el lunes 8 de mayo de 2018 en el Schimmel Center en la ciudad de Nueva York.
